This was so interesting and resonates with some of the work I do about social class – representation is key here as well and connecting with students through shared lived experiences. The key for me is the idea of of difference and preserving space for difference, there still needs to be a shift away from trying to align everyone to embracing difference.
I also thought the section where you talked about owning and identifying your own disability was powerful and something not often discussed, the need to deny or for many the negative feelings attached to this is something else that needs much more consideration.
Finally I loved the reference to Temple Grandin, often we find what we are looking for or what we need in spaces separate to the ones we are focused on.
